Financial Prosperity through God’s Way

Money is such a sensitive topic when it comes to churches. Churches teach prosperity but no one is showing how to do it. Most Christians are not financially literate and the Church has not trained their people on how to become wealthy.

Christians should change the way they think about prosperity as a negative thing. God desires his people to prosper. Christians have this wrong idea that Jesus was poor. Take note that when Joseph and Mary were travelling, they have money for the inn, but there was no room.  The Romans cast lots for the clothing of Jesus when he was crucified. These soldiers would not do that if his clothes were rags. This means that they were valuable. Romans and Jews during those times do not listen to a homeless person. God commanded Adam and Eve to be fruitful and multiply. Malachi 3:7-14 shows that Christians should bring in the tithes and offering. Christians should invest in the earth. However, the ultimate target and goal for financial prosperity should be to let money work for you so you can work for God. God desires that we prosper so we can help His work. You can learn how to think of ways on how to earn and multiply their money.

1. It is not a sin to be financially prosperous.

It is not a sin to be financially prosperous in this world. There are good people in the Bible that were financially prosperous who the Lord delighted in. God was the reason why they are financially prosperous. These people did not have their hearts depart from God because they were prosperous. It is wrong to judge people who have a large income that they are in sin.

2. Hoarding for selfish reasons is sinful.

The Bible does not condemn a large income in itself but it condemns selfish accumulation, selfish spending, and hoarding up earthly luxuries and treasures.  “Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.” (Matthew 6:19-21).

Jesus commanded us not to store up earthly treasures on earth as this shows our hearts are not with him. We are in disobedience if we lay up financial abundance on earth for the purpose of enjoying ourselves in this world.

3. Money is not the root of all evil. Love of it is.

If is okay for Christians to become rich. The Bible does not say anything about forbidding Christians to gain large amounts of money. The problem is that the love of money is the root of all evil. Man cannot serve two masters. “No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.” (Matthew 6.24) God is saying that it is sinful to be prosperous. He is saying that when you put your security, faith, and hope in money than God, then they fail to serve the true God.

God wants us to be financially prosperous. Just remember that we should still put God above all and His blessings will pour on us.

If you want to know how to become financially prosperous, I can show you a way on how to do it. Just send me an email and I can share with you a proven system that has made Filipinos financially prosperous. Feel free to share your comments on the comment box as well.

3 Reasons Why Filipinos Should Not Depend on Their Social Security System for Retirement

Filipinos work because they want to have something to look forward to when they retire. Is that really true? Can our present work now sustain what we need after we retire?

I say NO!

This post is intended for Filipinos who are thirty-nine and below.

You should not depend on Social Security for any portion of your retirement. Here are the reasons why:

1. SSS does not have enough funds to cover retirement and other benefits beyond 2039. SSS President and Chief Executive Officer Emilio de Quiros Jr. stated that SSS will collect 11 % from the monthly salaries of employees in January 2014. This has increased from the 10.4% which is the current collection. The state-run pension fund has to increase the membership premium because it does not have enough money to cover retirement and other benefits beyond 2039.

2. SSS gave large bonuses to its employees and board of directors. Just imagine how a government agency can mismanage its funds. How can you sustain the retirement benefits of your clienteles if you spent more funds compared to the revenues they gain? Their liabilities are greater than their assets. De Quiros admitted that the Board of Directors and employees obtained P200 million in 2012 in their performance-based incentives. Their 8-member board of directors reportedly got at least P1 million each as bonuses.

3. SSS has large unfunded liabilities. In President Benigno Aguino III’s fourth State of the Nation Address (SONA) on July 22, 2013 said that the funds are bound to become insufficient by 2018 because of the P1.1 trillion liabilities that are unfunded.  You can imagine what happens to this large pool of funds when SSS pays more than what pays in. It will really dry up.

If you are disillusioned by the performance of SSS and you do not want to depend solely of your retirement with your retirement plan, you can solve this problem by diversifying your income. Your SSS contributions come from your employment. If you see that your employment cannot sustain beyond 65 years of your life and you want to find a solution to this, you can send me an email and I can help you generate a plan. If you agree or disagree with the post above, feel free to share your comments on the comment box.

10 Reasons Why the Average Filipino is Born Poor and Dies Poor

“Pag ikaw ay pinanganak na mahirap, di mo kasalanan iyan;
Pero pag ikaw ay namatay na mahirap, kasalanan mo iyan.”

Parents usually pass on their inheritance to their children. Then the children pass this to their children. This cycle goes on and on. If a person is born poor, he usually dies poor. The cycle is not broken.

According to a 2009 report by the World Bank, about 41.5 percent of the population lived below the $2-a-day poverty line. Just imagine the number of children who will inherit this sad state.

The question is, why is an average Filipino born poor and die poor?

1. The average Filipino has a poor person mentality.  Filipinos are programmed with a poor person mindset. They developed bad habits that make them poor.

2. The average Filipino believes in destiny and fate. Filipinos always blame their current circumstances to destiny or fate. They believe they live in poverty is caused by fate and they cannot do anything about it.

3. The average Filipino thinks rich people are greedy. They have this preconceived notion that rich people are greedy; thus, they do away from being rich.

4. The average Filipino is “contented” with his current life. Filipinos are fond of saying that they want a simple life.  Yet, they want “better” things in life. Very ironic!

5. The average Filipino believes that he will become poor once he stops working or when he retires. Pinoys think that when they stop working, their bank accounts will dwindle. They trade their time for money which is the main reason why they die poor.

6. The average Filipino believes in luck. Filipinos are so fond of joining the lottery in the hope that they will win. If their numbers do not win on that day, they again fall in line the next day and then join the lottery again.

7. The average Filipino thinks having money will make them rich. Filipinos think that if they have money, they will become rich. It takes an idea to become rich and not really having money. Look at Filipino lottery winners. They have money but after a few months, they are more broke compared to when they did not win the lottery.

8. The average Filipino does not see an opportunity once he is presented with it. Filipinos have long been exposed to various life-changing opportunities but they do not take it.

9. The average Filipino always thinks the government should be giving them dole-outs. Filipinos think that the government is the answer to their life long misery. They do not do anything beyond blaming and complaining their woes to the government.

10. The average Filipino has a mental lid. Filipinos believe in P10,000 per month salary. However, if presented with a P500,000 per month opportunity, they will automatically think it is a scam.

If you are a Filipino and you were born “poor” but you do not want to die poor, feel free to share your thoughts and ideas on the comment box.  You can even send me an email on a way on how Not to die poor.

Robert Kiyosaki’s Cash Flow Quadrant

I am fond of going to bookstores. Call me bookish but I really read a lot. However, that somehow changed in the advent of the information age. The internet became my source of information in addition to the books that I fondly read every time I get the chance to do so.

I was once intrigued when I saw this book entitled Rich Dad Poor Dad by Robert Kiyosaki. I cannot remember if the title was strong enough to let me purchase it. What intrigued me was that this guy had two fathers.

But, this blog post is not intended for that book. What I am trying to point out was that the book changed my mindset.  And each time I see another new one from him, I make it my job to find an ebook or a book itself. And then I discovered his book Cashflow Quadrant.

In his book, I learned that there are four kinds of people. E is for Employee. S is for Self-Employed. B is for Business. I is for Investor. The Es and the Ss are on the left side of the quadrant. These group of people trade their time for money and they pay the most in taxes.

The Bs and Is are on the right side of the quadrant. They create or invest in assets that produce more cash and they pay the least in taxes.

Robert Kiyosaki believes that those on the left side are those who struggle financially while those on the right side are the ones prospering.

The employees and the self-employed are the ones who are struggling as there is a scarcity in jobs and there is an increase in the cost of living. They can only exchange their time for money and they are not high demand.

Businessmen and investors, on the other hand, are becoming more and more financially successful.

If you are in the E and S quadrants and you want to have a better financial life, you can send me an email on how you can transition from the left to the right side. Feel free to share your comments on the comment box.

How the Poor is Looked Upon by Society

The poor will always be there. However, it is a person’s choice to stay on that group. No one wants to be poor. No one wants to feel hunger. No one wants to be dependent on someone. No one wants to beg for food. No one wants to live a life of financial instability.

So how does society look upon the poor?

Politicians: The poor is always the favorite sector of society that politicians are fond of campaigning with. The poor is the most underprivileged group of society and they comprise more than 80% of the population. You can just imagine the number of voters these politicians can obtain if they focus their programs on the vast number of poor people.

Church: The Church always looks at poor people the easiest to disciple as they are the ones who “need” God the “most.” The poor is always the recipient of the Church’s gift-giving efforts.

Educational System: The school looks upon the children of the poor as underprivileged sector of society. Sometimes, teachers tend to lower down standards to these children as they have to work for their needs at school. Poor children usually become underachievers compared to the more well-off kids.

Parents: Parents of well-off children look at the children of the poor as people whom their children should not associate with. They think that the poor have bad values and they do not want their children to be rubbing elbows with these poor children. Just think of “children” discrimination.

Hospitals: Poor people are not exempted from emergencies. The sad fact is that they cannot obtain instant medical efforts since they do not have the money for down payment. Hospitals see poor people as people who do not have money to pay for their medical services. Why should they serve this sector when they cannot get any monetary value from them? Why should they waste their hard-earned degree by serving the poor?

Justice System: When a person is accused to have done a crime, a person who is poor usually takes the brunt of society. Their poverty is enough reason why they should be guilty of a crime that they did not commit.

Poor: How does the poor look at themselves? The poor thinks that life is unfair. They think that the government should be doing them service and provide them with all the benefits that can be afforded to them. They think that they were born poor and they will die poor. They have the mindset of “isang kahig, isang tuka.”

If you belong to the poor sector of the community and you do not want to be labelled by different sectors of the community as laid out in this blog, and you believe there is more to live than being poor, and you want to find a way, then feel free to comment on the comment box or send me an email.

Songs about Love and Money

I am a romantic---a hopeless romantic. I swoon every time I hear a love song. I giggle when I see my favorite love team become a pair at the end of the story.

Not really… You know why? I always believe that love is real. I have seen many get into relationships and then end bitterly when they get married.

I am neither anti-marriage nor anti-love. However, I hear these songs that have lyrics that lift up poverty.  Moreover, there are also songs that are not romantic that show the sad condition of people living in poverty. Here they are:

Love Will Keep Us Alive-Eagles

“When we are hungry, love will keep us alive.”

What person in his right mind would want to hear that love will stop stomachs rumbling? Can you tell your wife and your children that you will have group hug as this shows love? Will empty stomachs ever understand it? I do not think so.

Richard Cory-Simon and Garfunkel

“But I work in his factory
And I curse the life I’m living
And I curse my poverty
And I wish that I could be,
Oh, I wish that I could be,
Oh, I wish that I could be
Richard Cory”

This is not really a love song, but this shows that a simple factory worker detests the life that he lives and he wants to be Richard Cory. Richard Cory is his boss.

Money (That’s What I Want)-Flying Lizards

“The best things in life are free
But you can give them to the birds and bees
I want money
You love gives me such a thrill
But your love won’t pay my bills
I want money
Give me your money
Just give me money”

Just look at that. There is this person who loves another. However, he or she would rather have money than the other person’s love. This must be like a dagger through the heart.

Love and money are related, aren't they? Love makes the world go round. Even with love on the sides, some people choose money over love. Some choose love over money, but in the end, how can you show your love if you do not have the resources?

Feel free to share your comments in the comment box or shoot me an email if you want to know how to find ways to earn money.

OFW: Ambition or Option

Being an OFW or an Overseas Filipino Worker is one trademark of Filipinos. Most Filipino families have either a family member or a close friend that works abroad. These people are considered to be the unsung heroes of the modern times. The government loves them as they bring in the dollars.

My father used to work as an OFW in Saudi Arabia when I was in my elementary days. I have both aunts and uncles from both my father and mother’s side working in different countries as OFW. Back then, I never did realize the great importance of them working outside the country. All I know is that they are working for the love of their family.

However, when I get to think about it now, I wonder if being an OFW is an ambition or an option.  Here are some points about what I think of this question.

Being an OFW is an ambition because:

1.       OFWs bring in the dollars. A Filipino working abroad has a bigger payslip compared to a Filipino working here in the Philippines.

2.       OFWs work in greener pastures. The Philippines is a third world country. Filipinos usually work in first-world countries like the United States. Working in these countries usually means a better life, a better work environment, and better benefits.

There is another side of the coin. Being an OFW is an option because:

1.       The minimum wage in the Philippines barely supports the minimum requirements in order to have a decent life. How can a family of five live properly when the breadwinner of the family earns P277 per day?

2.       OFWs do not want to leave their families but they have to. People never like to be separated from their families. If they have an option of working where their families are, they would not leave the country.

3.       The government cannot provide the best opportunities. It is a sad fact that the government cannot provide the best for everyone.
I salute OFWs as they help the economy get better. I salute them for making sacrifices.

What about you? Is being an OFW an ambition or an option? Feel free to make comments on the comment box or you can send me an email.

If you are an OFW and you desire to have a better life without leaving the country but you do not know how, you can send me an email on how you can do that.
